This past Sunday morning I stepped out of my comfort zone.
You see, I LOVE being behind the camera…but in front of it? Yeah, not so much….
I agreed to be in a YouTube video that was being made by the amazing photographer Ashton, and do a photography challenge.
It’s funny because I can make people feel comfortable in front of the camera no problem, but when it comes to myself I feel so awkward.
So y’all, I know how you feel when you say you’re uncomfortable in front of the camera.
I get it.
As much as I don’t want to step out of my comfort zone, when I see the chance to do it, I force myself.
And this why:
Once I got there, I had a blast!!
I got to hang out with new people, and learn a lot about the perspective of different photographers.
Whenever you see the chance to step out of your comfort zone, do it.... even if you hate it!
In the end it’ll be worth it because the least you can get from stepping out there is that you learn something new, or you learn that it’s not for you. Either way you have something to feel proud of,
yourself.
I had the pleasure of working with Jamie, Ashton, and model Kali who were all so fun and great company!
This was the “three photographers shoot the same model challenge”. Each photographer chose a location, and then we shot the model for three minutes each. We did three locations, and chose three of our own photos from each location to display.
I was nervous because I thought 3 minutes would fly by, and I despise being timed for things. To my surprise, those three minutes felt like such a long time and I was able to pose the model in so many varying ways!
It was a great time even though it was mighty chilly! I don’t know how Kali kept her composure so well in her shorts for the hour and 30 minutes we were out there!
For the first location Ashton chose the savannah theatre
These are my three images from that location:
For the second location I chose Chippewa Square
These are my three images from that location:
For the third location Jamie chose the ally behind Six Pence Pub
These are my three images from that location:

Here is the video footage of the challenge!
If I had never stepped out of my comfort zone and got in front of that camera I would be missing so much!
I got to meet amazing people, feel pound of myself, and create portraits to add to my website and social media.
The best part was being able to show my 5 year old that I was on YouTube. He was so surprised when he saw me because he thought I was on TV. That was awesome!!
